Loafer Styling
I started my hunt for a new style of everyday shoes once I started working my new job post grad. In the late summer and fall months here in Texas I found myself wearing sneakers to work almost everyday. Although nothing wrong with that as they were proper and clean sneakers I wanted to have a shoe option that was different and elevated my denim outfits. Usually I would turn to boots but with the weather being so warm well into October here I wasn’t ready to pull out my boots yet. In the past when I needed to wear slightly more formal shoes for a business casual outfit I turned to mules, but I wanted something fully covering my feet since I was walking around at work so much.
I loved the look of loafers and wanted to style them beyond work outfits so I started to look at different options to find a pair I could wear with any outfit. I know platform loafers are a favorite for many but the chunky sole isn’t my personal favorite for myself although I love the look on others. I felt like wearing loafers would be similar to how I used to wear Sperry boat shoes growing up in school. The similar concept of slip in shoes that are a little more dressy than sneakers. So I wanted to make sure I could wear my loafers to work, dinners, going out for an evening or anything.
I found these simple patent leather ones at Madewell and debated because I had been eyeing the Sam Edlemen loafers that are a classic and I wanted to make sure the shoes had a feminine touch. I ended up getting the Madewell loafers because they were on a Black Friday sale and I’m definitely happy with my choice so far.
